The Witcher 3 is considered by many to be one of the best games of all time. A version for PS5 and Xbox Series X is in development, but we haven’t heard much about it lately. There is only a glimmer of hope because CD Projekt RED is coming this week with a livestream around the game.
CD Projekt RED turns 20 this year and the developer celebrates that by taking a closer look at its old games. This week it’s the turn of The Witcher 3, on July 20th. A special livestream will be broadcasted on that day at 4 p.m., CD Projekt RED announced on its forum.
CD Projekt RED itself doesn’t promise any information about the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, but it doesn’t explicitly exclude it either. Previous streams about the first two The Witcher games have not brought any news about updates or new titles. But there was no next-gen version announced for those games.
When Will The Witcher 3’s Next-gen Upgrade Come Out?
The Witcher 3 is due to receive an upgrade for the PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year. It was initially planned for earlier this year but was delayed when CD Projekt RED took over development from a third-party Russian studio. Now the next-gen update should be released in the last quarter of 2022.
In the meantime, a new The Witcher game has appeared, namely a single-player Gwent game. Even those who don’t like that card game have a new title to look forward to. Earlier this year, a fourth The Witcher game was announced, which is not officially called The Witcher 4, and kicks off a new saga for the franchise.
