MultiVersus Season 1 Has Been Postponed Indefinitely

MultiVersus Season 1 has been postponed indefinitely, according to a tweet from the game’s developer.

It was initially planned that the first season of the free-to-play game would start on August 9. The delay also affects the release of Rick and Morty’s playable character Morty, who was supposed to come out on August 9, the same day Season 1 was supposed to start. Rick was also supposed to join the game at some point in the first season.

In a way that might be funny, this delay announcement kind of confirms that Season 1 was meant to start around this time. We don’t know when the new content will drop because it doesn’t have a new release date or window. At the very least, there is already something from Rick and Morty in the game. The “Get Schwifty”- inspired Cromulons map is already live. Also, it’s important to note that the tweet says “the release of Morty” has been delayed. Since Rick isn’t mentioned, he could still be added to the game soon as a sort of make-up for the Season 1 delay.

MultiVersusis a Smash Bros-style fighting game featuring various characters from Warner Bros. franchises. The game mainly focuses on 2v2 combat, but 1v1 and a four-player free-for-all mode is also available.

The game – which is still officially in beta form – is now playable on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox consoles, including cross-play. There are seventeen characters to choose from so far. The game has become very popular in a short time.
