Xbox users will have a new way to share Xbox Game Pass with family and friends. This will make it easier to use at home or in a small gaming group.
Earlier this year there were some rumors about an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan and this has now been officially announced by Microsoft. Microsoft has indicated that Xbox Insiders in Colombia and Ireland can get started with a preview of the plan.
If you live in one of these two countries, you can buy the Xbox Game Pass – Insider Preview bundle to try out the family plan. Once this is done, players can invite up to four other people to join the membership. If you already have an Xbox Game Pass subscription and sign up, your time will be converted. In the example Microsoft gave, a person with one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will get 18 days of the new membership.
This Game Pass family subscription places its members on the same level as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which gives subscribers access to more than 100 games on PC and Xbox consoles.
According to Xbox Wire and a previous exclusive report from Windows Central, Microsoft is now testing an Xbox Game Pass family plan. Right now, only players in Colombia and Ireland who are in the right Xbox Insider testing ring can take part in the testing.
“Starting today in Colombia and Ireland, Xbox Insiders can begin to preview a plan that allows multiple people to share Game Pass Ultimate benefits,”
– Tyler Mittleider, senior technical program manager at Microsoft, said for Xbox Wire.
The Xbox Game Pass family plan may be most exciting because you can share it with almost anyone. The only rule is that they have to live in the same country as the account owner. Even so, this is a pretty normal rule for something like this.
There is no information about when the family plan will be available in the U.S. or other countries, or how much it will cost if Xbox decides to make it available to everyone.
